When he finds himself in the midst of a revolution, he evolves again while his now-grown Cosette falls in love with a student revolutionary. He ultimately sacrifices himself to protect the people he loves. Struggling to reconcile his gift with the community’s Orthodox values, he immerses himself in an art form steeped in Christian imagery.
