Saline residents will be fined if they light off airborne fireworks between 1 and 8 a.m. during the July 4 weekend, according to the Saline Reporter.

According to the report, the Saline City Council voted Monday to ban fireworks use between 1 and 8 a.m. on the day before, the day of and the day after a national holiday. The ordinance covers fireworks that are shot into the air and explode.

Municipalities with populations lower than 50,000 in a county with a population of less than 750,000 are allowed to prohibit fireworks between those times, according to the report. In Ann Arbor, fireworks are prohibited between midnight and 8 a.m. by a city ordinance.
