A lab at the University of Michigan is developing a radar system to detect concealed bombs and weapons, according to media reports.
The idea first took shape when researchers manipulated a radar device similar to the kind law enforcement agencies use to detect the speeds of drivers.

The device could easily be used in public places because it does not need to be close to an individual to detect a device like a metal detector needs to be, according to the report.
